Welcome to Nursery

The class teacher for Nursery is Miss Trevett.

On this page you will find information about our nursery curriculum and organisation.

Curriculum

Early Years Foundation Stage focusses on developing the core, fundamental skills that children require throughout their life; the foundations to their futures. Here at Bovingdon Primary Academy we promote learning through a creative, broad and engaging curriculum built around the children’s interests and through carefully selected learning themes.

There are three prime areas of learning which are strongly focussed on as children settle into their new classrooms. These are: Communication & Language Development, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development.

There are also 4 core areas of learning which are embedded into the children’s weekly routines and play. These are: Maths, Literacy, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design. Please see our Termly themes in our Curriculum Newsletters to find out a little bit more as to what will be covered in each area of learning.

Weekly Update

Daily Routine

Having a clear routine each day helps children to feel safe and secure. Take a look at the weekly timetable to see all the fun the Nursery get up to across a week.

Outdoor Learning

Our passion for outdoor learning is paramount, we as a team ensure the children have stimulating, age related activities provided to suit their individual needs. We are extremely fortunate to have a wide open space for our outdoor classroom, which has areas created for the 7 areas of learning. In addition to this and creating further enthusiasm for nature we have a large open green space, to explore, investigate and engage in.

Observations

In EYFS we pride ourselves on knowing the children in our setting very well. We observe the children’s learning both through adult led activities and child initiated learning to assess how they are progressing. We share their learning accomplishments from putting on their own shoes to re-telling stories with parents via an app called ‘Tapestry’. We encourage parents to share WOW moments from home with us at school using Tapestry too.
