Zone française

Bienvenue à notre zone française!

At Bovingdon Primary Academy we teach French to pupils from Year 3 to Year 6. Children learn French every other half term as part of their PPA provision. Lessons focus on speaking and listening, reading and writing the language. We also learn about aspects of French culture. Topics are taught through songs, games, videos, drama and written activities. The topics covered are as follows:

Year 3: Autumn: introductions, numbers, Paris, Christmas. Spring: colours and shapes, instructions, age, where I live. Summer: family, pets.

Year 4: Autumn: instructions, numbers, parts of the body, days of the week, French food. Spring: numbers to 31, birthdays, seasons. Summer: animals, transport, french speaking countries.

Year 5: Autumn: numbers to 50, weather and telling the time. Spring: food, clothing, alphabet. Summer: planets.

Year 6: autumn: French schools, pencil case, Christmas. Spring: ordering food and Easter in France. Summer: dragons, sport and hobbies.

In year 5 children have the opportunity to go on a residential trip to France and link with pupils from a French school.
